Conrail SD45-2 6666 leads train OIAL west through
the split signals on the Lehigh Line at Stanton Station NJ. The 6666
is one of 13 SD45-2's that were purchased by the Erie-Lackawanna and
were built in 1972. The 3,600 horsepower locomotives were used for fast
freight on the EL, pusher service on Horseshoe Curve on Conrail and
now spend their lives in the New Jersey Shared Assets areas under NS/CSX.
This is a rare shot of one of these large engines leading a train and
doing something other than their assigned tasks. |
