It was truly an amazing sight to behold, the many brush fires that were set off by the malfunctioning locomotives on WPAL-10. From the accounts, the locomotives were spitting sparks out of their exhaust stacks which ignited the brush along side the tracks at several locations along the Lehigh Line and not just here at CP West Portal. The old Jeep carries firefighting equipment from a local department which were called out to clean up Conrail's mess. The Lehigh Line was shut down for several hours as the brush was put out along the line.
