A friendly tip from a regular in the area alerted to the remains of the old watertower. As with most structures on the Delaware Lackawanna and Western this watertower was built with concrete which is why its footings are still standing today. The watertower was special because special piping allowed both trains on the then Phillipsburg branch and the old main line to be watered at the same time.
